A flanged linear ball bearing is a rolling-element linear bearing with an integrated mounting flange that allows the bearing to fasten directly to machine frames, plates, or carriages while guiding straight-line motion on end-supported round shafts. Flanged linear ball bearings from PBC Linear are available with round or square flange options, and double-sized variants are offered with the flange mounted either at the end or in the center, depending on the required mounting layout and load-support arrangement.
The inner bore uses a standard linear ball bearing assembly, with a molded polymer retainer holding recirculating hardened steel balls, secured by end rings and protected by standard double seals. This design delivers smooth, quiet, low-friction straight-line motion and is better suited than plain bearings for higher speeds, longer strokes, and cantilevered loads from any direction, since linear ball bearings are not limited by the 2:1 binding ratio that applies to plain bearing systems.
Constructed with a durable steel housing, with optional stainless steel available for corrosion resistance, these bearings operate from -20°C to 80°C (-4°F to 176°F), reach maximum speeds up to 8 m/s (315 in/s), and support static load capacities up to 166,000 lb (740 kN). They are available in inch, ISO metric, and JIS sizes, with options including O-ring grooves, retaining ring grooves, and seal materials such as nitrile rubber, urethane, or Viton® for IDs of 1/2" or 20 mm and larger. Size-interchangeable with other manufacturers’ linear bearings and the Simplicity® plain linear bearing series, flanged linear ball bearings provide a reliable, easy-to-install solution for applications requiring precise alignment, low friction, and dependable load support.
