High Speed, Cantilevered Loads
Flanged linear ball bearings from PBC Linear® offer a compact, easy-to-mount design, delivering reliable performance without catastrophic failure. Constructed with a durable steel housing (optional stainless steel for corrosion resistance) and a polymer retainer, these bearings operate within a temperature range of -20°C to +80°C (-4°F to +176°F) and support static load capacities up to 166,000 lb (740 kN) with maximum speeds of 8 m/s (315 in/s). Available in inch (3/16” to 4”), ISO metric (5mm to 80mm), and JIS sizes, they feature square or round flange designs (center or end-mounted) for versatile installation, with mounting options like O-ring and retaining ring grooves. Unlike plain linear bushings, flanged linear ball bearings are not limited by the 2:1 binding ratio, enabling effective support for cantilevered loads from any direction, ensuring smooth, quiet operation with low friction due to recirculating ball elements. Size-interchangeable with other manufacturers’ linear bearings and PBC’s Simplicity® Plain Linear Bearings, they offer seal options (nitrile rubber, urethane, or viton for IDs ≥ ½” or 20mm) and are designed for end-supported shafting.
