PBC Linear® started in 1983 with the creation of the Simplicity linear bearing, known by many as the little red bearing. A technology that solves problems in dirt, vibration, shock loading, cleanrooms, welding, foundry, and washdown situations where linear ball bearings often fail to perform well.

Simplicity Bearings are self-lubricating and maintenance-free.  Ideal for tough environments with their patented PTFE Frelon liner offering low wear and friction. They come in various sizes and styles, with aluminum or stainless-steel shells and three liner materials.

What Makes Simplicity Bearings Self-Lubricating

The interaction of the Frelon® material and the shafting creates a natural, microscopic transfer of the Frelon to the running surface.  A thin film is deposited on the shaft and the valleys in the surface finish are filled in with Frelon material during the initial break-in period. This transfer creates the self-lubricating condition of Frelon riding on Frelon.

Choose from three different self-lubricating liner materials (FrelonGOLD®, Frelon J, Frelon W) based on your application and shafting material.

• FrelonGOLD®  - High performance material compatible with RC60 hardened steel shafting, RC70 ceramic coated, and 440 stainless steel shafting. 

• Frelon J - Formulated to provide the optimum performance with 300 series stainless steel and softer shafting such as bare aluminum. 

• Frelon W - FDA compliant with food-grade liner and compatible with stainless steel and softer metal shafting.

Additional Lubrication

In addition to selecting the outer shell and liner material that is best suited for your application, PBC Linear offers additional features such as lubrication systems for increased speed in continuous motion applications. The added lubrication can reduce friction up to 50%. Our configurators provide an excellent option to design specific features for your bearing solution.

Lubrication systems include: 
• Felt Wick - Retains oil lubricants (remove when using grease lubrication). Wicks are glued in place on open bearings while they sit in place on closed bearings. 

•  Zerk Fitting - Installed into pillow blocks, other housing, or directly into die sets PAC or PACM (Standard lube fitting with ¼-28 thread).

PBC Linear shafting is exclusively optimized to match our high-performance bearing technology, providing long life, low maintenance, and reliable linear motion. Advanced process capabilities maintain the ideal surface finish resulting in the longest life and highest performing shaft-to-bearing combination for linear bearings rails

Don’t be misled, all shafting is not alike! Don’t settle for below average performance. In most applications, smoother does not equal better. In fact, it means decreased performance and shortened life. A shaft surface finish of 8 to 12 Ra is the optimal smoothness for linear plain bearings and ball bearings. Choose between carbon steel, 300 series stainless steel, 400 series stainless steel, or aluminum with hardened surface coating.

Customized Solutions Available

For larger OEM customers, PBC Linear can create custom linear bearing solutions utilizing our patented Frelon liner. Customized solutions can cut purchasing costs by decreasing the number of individual parts thus reducing assembly time.
