A linear slide is a mechanical assembly that provides controlled linear motion between components without the use of rolling elements such as balls or rollers. Instead of rolling contact, Gliding Surface Technology (GST) linear slides utilize a precision plain bearing interface that allows surfaces to glide smoothly against one another while maintaining support and alignment.
GST linear slides feature a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, two-piece plain bearing assembly incorporating a proprietary Frelon® liner. This self-lubricating liner eliminates metal-to-metal contact, reduces friction, and minimizes wear, resulting in maintenance-free operation and resistance to catastrophic failure. Unlike profile rail systems that rely on recirculating ball bearings, the Mini-Rail square linear guide provides a dimensionally interchangeable alternative using gliding surface technology. Uni-Guide and Low Profile Uni-Guide linear slides include anodized aluminum components that resist corrosion and prevent contaminant buildup, making them well suited for washdown environments and applications where dirt, debris, or moisture would compromise rolling-element systems.
