Uni-Guide Linear Slides - Gliding Linear Guides

Self-Lubricating & Maintenance-Free

Linear slides are gliding-surface linear guides that use a sliding carriage and rail to provide smooth, controlled motion along a single axis with no metal-to-metal contact. Linear slides in the Uni-Guide™ series use a versatile two-piece rail-and-carriage design built on self-lubricating, maintenance-free Gliding Surface Technology™. By applying proven Simplicity® plain bearing technology to a precision-machined aluminum rail and carriage, these linear slides eliminate tolerance stack-up, dampen vibration and shock loads, and drop easily into new or existing applications for fast, hassle-free installation.

At the heart of the Uni-Guide is the proprietary FrelonGOLD liner, which provides true self-lubricating, oil-free operation for the entire life of the system. This advanced material delivers low friction, high load capacity, and exceptional wear resistance while protecting against contaminants, extreme temperatures, particulates, and wash-down environments.

Product advantages include a two-piece assembly in which the rail and carriage are precision-machined, often using the patented SIMO process, for tight tolerances and perfect alignment right out of the box. The system is maintenance-free, requiring no external lubrication, which reduces downtime and contamination risks. Its gliding surface naturally absorbs shock and vibration better than rolling-element systems, and because there are no recirculating ball or roller elements, it avoids the risk of catastrophic failure. The design is versatile, with standard, low-profile 24 mm height, and tall-profile configurations, carriage widths from 40 mm to 125 mm, and lengths up to 2,750 mm or more. Optional enhancements include hand brakes for manual positioning, extended carriages for better load distribution, and screw-driven versions for added precision. The ceramic hard-coated aluminum rail, anodized carriage, and FrelonGOLD liner also make it well suited for harsh environments such as packaging, food processing, automation, medical, and other demanding applications.

The Uni-Guide’s combination of simplicity, durability, and performance makes it an excellent choice for low-cost automation, packaging equipment, and any application requiring smooth, quiet, long-lasting linear motion without the complexity or maintenance demands of traditional linear guides.

Design Considerations for Uni-Guide

Cantilevered Loads

Binding of the carriage will occur if the 2:1 ratio for cantilevered loads and drive forces is exceeded. This principle is not load or force dependent. The 2:1 Bearing Ratio is officially defined as the maximum ratio of the moment arm distance to the bearing length that will not cause binding or hinder motion. This ratio is often represented numerically as "2:1," where "2x" represents the moment arm distance and "1x" represents the bearing length. For instance, if 2x equals 10 inches, then 1x must equal 5 inches.
