Linear slides are linear guides that use sliding contact rather than recirculating balls or rollers to carry a load on a carriage in a straight line with one degree of freedom. Instead of relying on rolling elements that can seize, brinell (dent), or fail, plain linear slides use engineered bearing surfaces to glide along a rail. Sliding-element guides do need to follow the 2:1 binding rule: the farther a cantilevered load or drive force is offset from the rail, the farther apart the carriages need to be along the rail.
PBC Linear Uni-Guide™ linear slides pair ceramic-coated aluminum rails with anodized aluminum carriages lined with self-lubricating FrelonGOLD®. The FrelonGOLD® liner separates the carriage from the rail, eliminating metal-on-metal contact while providing smooth, maintenance-free linear motion. With no rolling elements to jam, seize, or contaminate, Uni-Guide™ slides are well suited for extreme temperatures, washdowns, caustic environments, clean rooms, medical devices, packaging equipment, automation systems, and applications exposed to dirt, debris, fluids, vibration, shock loads, or impact.
The Uni-Guide™ family includes the flagship variant plus Low Profile Uni-Guide™ linear slides, Tall Profile Uni-Guide™ linear slides, Mini-Rail® slides, and Low Profile Mini-Rail® slides. Higher-profile Uni-Guide™ variants include dual parallel shafts machined into a single rail for built-in alignment, simplified installation, and improved rigidity, while Mini-Rail® polymer slide variants provide compact, low-profile gliding motion for smaller linear guide applications.
