Gliding Surface Linear Guides are self-lubricating, maintenance-free linear rails and carriages that provide smooth, low-friction travel without rolling elements. Instead of recirculating balls or rollers, these guides use plain bearing sliding surfaces to eliminate metal-to-metal contact, reduce wear, dampen vibration, and avoid catastrophic ball-bearing failure in harsh or contaminated environments. This category includes Uni-Guide™ linear slides, Low Profile Uni-Guide™ linear slides, Tall Profile Uni-Guide™ linear slides, Mini-Rail® slides, and Low Profile Mini-Rail® slides. The Uni-Guide™ series uses self-lubricating FrelonGOLD® bearing liners bonded under the carriage where they meet the guide shafts, while Mini-Rail® polymer slide variants provide compact, low-profile gliding motion for smaller linear guide applications.
Uni-Guide and related FrelonGOLD linear slides feature ceramic-coated aluminum rails and anodized aluminum carriages for corrosion resistance, smooth travel, and reliable operation in demanding environments. Higher-profile Uni-Guide variants include dual parallel shafts machined into a single rail for built-in alignment, simplified installation, and improved rigidity. Mini-Rail slide systems provide smaller-format guidance where compact size, light weight, and simple maintenance-free motion are priorities. With no rolling elements to jam, seize, or contaminate, Gliding Surface Linear Guides are well suited for washdowns, caustic environments, clean rooms, medical devices, packaging equipment, automation systems, and applications exposed to debris, fluids, vibration, or shock loads. Available in multiple profiles and sizes, these guides support speeds up to 300 SFM and operate across a temperature range of -400°F to +400°F (-240°C to +204.4°C).
- Maximum Speed: 300 SFM (Surface Feet per Minute, indicating how many feet the carriage travels in one minute)
- Temperature Rating: -400°F/+400°F (-240°C/+204.4 °C)
