Self-Aligning Linear Ball Bearings - IPS-OP (Inch) Open

Self-Aligning Linear Ball Bearings | Precision Plus®

Precision Plus® self-aligning linear ball bearings use recirculating ball bearings to provide smooth, low-friction travel on round linear shafts while compensating for shaft or housing misalignment. Their self-aligning capability comes from floating hardened steel raceway inserts inside the high-strength polymer shell, allowing the bearing’s rolling contact surfaces to shift slightly and align with the shaft under load. This helps reduce binding, edge loading, and uneven ball contact when mounting surfaces or shafting are not perfectly aligned. This category includes both closed and open self-aligning variants. Closed bearings fully surround the shaft and are designed for end-supported shafting, while open bearings include a clearance opening for use with continuously supported shafts. Both styles provide up to 1/2° of self-alignment in all directions, use hardened steel ball raceway inserts for reliable rolling contact, and remain lightweight and durable thanks to the polymer outer shell. The bearings are size-interchangeable with industry-standard super-type ball bearings and are designed for applications requiring smooth motion, low friction, and improved tolerance for alignment error. They support static load capacities up to 2,500 lb (11,000 N) and dynamic load capacities up to 2,200 lb (9,700 N), making them a strong choice for demanding linear motion systems where shaft alignment, load support, and consistent travel are critical.
