LC Captive Lead Screw Linear Actuators are available in five standard NEMA frame sizes—08, 11, 14, 17, and 23—and are designed for precision linear motion in compact integrated systems. These captive pusher actuators use an internal nut architecture in which the leadscrew nut is integrated directly within the motor rotor while the lead screw passes through the center of the motor assembly. One end of the lead screw is retained, or “captured,” within the actuator so the screw does not rotate. Instead, the motor drives the internal threaded mechanism, forcing the integral plunger to extend and retract linearly from the actuator body.
This integrated configuration eliminates the need for separate nut supports or external screw support structures, creating a compact and mechanically stable assembly with simplified installation. Because part of the screw must always remain engaged within the actuator body, captive designs are best suited for shorter travel lengths and controlled push-pull motion applications.
The lead screw and nut threads are PTFE-coated to reduce friction, minimize wear, resist contamination, and help prevent coating flaking over time. Integrated angular contact bearings improve thrust capacity, reduce deflection, control runout, and maintain long-term positioning accuracy with minimized backlash.
The LC Series combines compact design, quiet operation, and precise linear motion for a wide range of automation and positioning applications including sorting systems, assembly equipment, dispensing systems, and compact linear actuation platforms.
