V-wheels are grooved cam roller bearings that travel along V-shaped linear rails, known as V-rails, to carry loads and provide smooth, controlled motion along a single axis with one degree of freedom. Their V-shaped geometry helps the wheel remain aligned on the rail while resisting minor misalignment, debris, and contamination, making V-wheel guide systems a strong choice for rugged linear motion applications. The V-Guide series at PBC Linear pairs precision steel V-wheels with matching V-rails to create durable, easy-to-install linear guide systems for demanding environments. The V-wheels are available in four standard diameters: 20, 30, 45, and 60 mm, and are mounted with standard or eccentric bushings installed through the wheel bore. These bushings, sold separately in our store below, provide the mounting interface between the wheel and the machine frame, with eccentric bushings allowing preload adjustment to control wheel-to-rail contact, remove play, and ensure smooth, accurate travel. Wheel material options include 52100 bearing steel and 420 stainless steel, while V-rails are available in 1045 carbon steel, with or without black oxide finish, or 400 series stainless steel. Designed for reliable low-friction travel, the V-Guide system supports continuous rail lengths up to 6,000 mm, or 19.7 ft. The rail-and-wheel design helps tolerate dirt, debris, and washdown conditions better than many conventional linear guide styles, while maintaining straightforward installation and adjustment for automation, material handling, packaging, and other industrial motion applications.
