Cantilevered and Telescoping Application Design

Telescoping systems are essential for many industries, allowing for further reach and length in various applications. PBC Linear offers a wide range of products that are able to adapt to telescoping applications. For example, product lines like Cam Roller Technology (CRT) can be utilized in a cantilevered configuration to obtain the desired telescoping effect. These examples show how a partial telescoping function is often adequate for a given application, though full telescoping is still obtainable by using extra rails. Essential information that must be provided when vetting a newly designed application include:

  • Typical application load
  • Length of extension required
  • Limits on rail length
  • Required bearing spacing
  • Application environment (vibration, washdown, etc.)
  • A visual representation of the application (sketch) including length, width, spacing, and center of gravity.
