Steel Simplicity® plain linear bearing die set mount assemblies are made in the US by PBC Linear for heavy-duty linear motion in industrial tooling, manufacturing, automation, and die set applications. Each flanged rugged steel housing contains a standard self-aligning Simplicity plain linear bearing with a bonded, self-lubricating Frelon liner, providing oil-free operation, vibration damping, smooth travel, and reliable performance in harsh industrial environments such as with extreme heat, dirt and vibration.
These steel die set mount assemblies differ from aluminum die set bushings with bonded FrelonGOLD liners, which use an aluminum housing construction rather than a steel mount containing a self-aligning plain bearing insert.
All steel die set mount assemblies are flanged for secure mounting in heavy-duty tooling and industrial linear motion applications. SDS Series assemblies use a single-size steel flange housing with one self-aligning Simplicity plain linear bearing insert, while DDS Series assemblies use a twin-size steel housing for added bearing length and load support. In DDS configurations, the flange is positioned at the center of the extended housing, creating a round center-flange mount that improves stability and mounting support while maintaining the self-aligning bearing performance inside the steel assembly.
Available liner options include standard FrelonGOLD® for general industrial use, Frelon J for corrosive chemical environments, and Frelon W for FDA-compliant applications. These bearings operate across a wide temperature range of -400°F to +400°F (-240°C to 204°C) and support static load capacities up to 166,000 lb (740 kN), depending on size and configuration.
Steel die set mount assemblies are available in inch sizes from 3/16 in to 4 in, ISO metric sizes from 5mm to 80mm, and JIS sizes. Configurations include single and double bearing styles, with standard precision ID clearance of 0.0005 in per side or compensated ID clearance of 0.0015 in per side.
Designed for end-supported shafting, the steel assemblies are interchangeable with many linear ball bearings and some bronze bushings. Seal options include nitrile rubber, urethane, or Viton® for IDs of 1/2 in or 20mm and larger, while O-ring and retaining ring grooves provide added mounting flexibility.
