Double open-shelled linear ball bearing pillow blocks place two standard-size linear ball bearings back to back inside a single aluminum alloy housing. The open bearing geometry provides clearance for rail-supported round shafts and profiled linear rails, while the twin arrangement increases bearing span for greater load support and stability. Heat-treated alloy steel bearing shells, recirculating hardened steel balls, and resin retainers provide durable, low-friction motion with reduced operating noise. These pillow blocks are well suited to cantilevered, overhung, and offset-load applications because linear ball bearings handle off-center forces without the same 2:1 binding limitation that applies to plain bearings. Standard IPPWN versions use conventional linear ball bearings, while IPPSWN Precision Plus® versions add self-alignment through floating internal ball raceways that accommodate minor shaft and housing misalignment. Double seals help retain lubricant and protect against contaminants, and the bearings require periodic external lubrication for proper performance and service life.
