Double linear ball bearing pillow blocks place two standard-size linear ball bearings back to back inside a single aluminum alloy housing. Heat-treated alloy steel bearing shells, recirculating hardened steel balls, and resin retainers provide durable, low-friction motion with reduced operating noise. The increased bearing span provides greater load support and stability than a single bearing arrangement, making these pillow blocks well suited to cantilever, overhung-load, and offset-load applications. Linear ball bearings also tolerate drive forces without the same 2:1 binding limitation that applies to plain linear bearings. IPPW Series pillow blocks use standard closed linear ball bearings for end-supported round shafts, while IPPSW Precision Plus® versions add self-alignment through floating internal ball raceways that can shift slightly to accommodate minor shaft and housing misalignment while maintaining smooth rolling contact. Double seals are included as standard for contaminant protection, and IPPSW versions include two grease zerk fittings for lubrication access.
