Simplicity® plain linear bearing technology is based on a simple but powerful idea: replace rolling elements with a self-lubricating Frelon® liner that glides directly on the shaft. As the bearing moves, the liner creates a low-friction running surface while helping wipe debris from the shaft, supporting smooth linear motion even in dirty, wet, high-vibration, or shock-loaded environments.
Unlike linear ball bearings, which rely on recirculating balls that can seize, spall, or fail when contaminated, Simplicity® plain linear bearings have no rolling elements to jam or catastrophically fail. The broad contact area of the Frelon® liner distributes load across the shaft, dampens vibration, tolerates shock, and reduces the need for external lubrication. Because they are plain bearings, applications should follow the 2:1 binding rule, which helps ensure proper spacing between bearings and load points to prevent binding. This combination of self-lubrication, wiping action, and plain bearing durability helps extend system life, reduce maintenance, and improve reliability in demanding linear motion applications.
